How the curriculum works:

Every lesson is made up of the following sections:
  • You begin with "Starting off" which includes
    ◦ Video segment
    ◦ Learning activity to involve the children in the lesson

  • Next, there's "In Deeper"
    Which leads the children deeper into the meaning and application of the lessons objective from the Bible story and accompanying adventure

  • Finally, you end with "Prayer Time"
    Which wraps the lesson up with an active, guided time to reinforce the learning objective and turn the children's hearts and minds toward what God is teaching them through the lesson

  • Each lesson also features "Extra, Extra!"
    This is a printable take-home sheet designed to reinforce what the kids have learned in that day's session

Each lesson also includes:

  • Leader's preparation guide
    • ◦ Learning objective
    ◦ List of required resources
    ◦ Story summary
    ◦ Preparation tips

  • Printable resources for activities and crafts

What does it cover?

Love the episodes and lesson content so far. Have not yet tried it with the kids but I think they will love it. The only thing that I wish was different was that the different sections of the lesson were on separate pages. For example, the starting off, in deeper and prayer time were all on separate pages. This is because I like to have them separated in different binders as different leaders will be in charge of the different aspects of the lesson. Now I will have to separate them myself somehow but the PDF document cannot be edited. So this is creating more work for me. Otherwise great so far!

I am very excited about series one for our after school program. The children are K-5 grades and it is difficult to find excellent materials for all these ages. This series has achieved this.
When I had a concern over an item that I had ordered that was not going to work for our program, the problem was quickly solved.  
Our program is planning on using all three series of DVDs.

We just ordered Friends and Heroes and showed our first video.  The kids were very attentive and enjoyed the online printable activities that go along with the lessons.  Friends and Heroes is well made and offers something for a diverse group!  Thank you!

I purchased this curriculum/dvd set to use with 6-10 kids in grades 1-6 during our smaller 2nd service Kids Church. The attendance fluctuates and we have a couple of children with special needs in the class. The kids (especially boys) enjoy the videos and the accompanying activities are very well done. My volunteers seem to enjoy leading the lessons and preparation is not overly involved.
